The best Satellite Internet

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

I have often said that Wild Blue is really good only for those with no alternative. Well, we do have some alternatives here, but wild blue satellite is still the best of them. Wild Blue is better than dial-up that we used previously, and better than fixed-microwave, broadband-by-power line and your satellite competitor. Our wild blue internet connection is our primary communications and entertainment link to the world. Through it we do our banking, shopping, read newspapers, politic, order our movies maintain our computers and even get directions on how to repair our car. Yes, we have Plain Old Telephone service but it is too old for DSL connectivity. And we have a cell phone but that works only in just the right places like ‘under’ the tower where we live. The mail comes and goes on the ferry once a day, weather and ice permitting. For daily contact with friends, family and neighbors we turn first to Wild Blue.

Wild Blue is best for me personally because I can fix a large range of problems that would otherwise be in series with some faceless technician’s other problems. I can maintain my equipment and depend on Wild Blue’s user forum or customer service for help with issues beyond my capability. Wild Blue is best for independent folks with no real alternative for high-speed connectivity. It’s been an unbelievable change, living out in the country, like Satellite Internet in Texas we could only get dial up Internet service and it would literally take hours to do what now takes minutes. Downloading upgrades, surfing the web and paying bills online is now a joy! Wild Blue satellite Internet service substantially exceeded my expectations for speed and reliability. Their customer service people are very knowledgeable and are a pleasure to do business with. Thank you very much!

All about security system

The Technician that was sent was great in not only setting up our Home Security System, but he answered every question that we had for him.

Not too many companies left out there that really know all about their product, but your company ADT certainly does. He made us feel not as though we were just a sale, but rather a member of your company’s family. We are a family of four, Mom, Dad and two children. Both children are special needs as they both have Autism. Not only do we feel safer with the Alarm Force running at night or when we are away, but with the chime on the door alerts us when anyone goes out, and this is a very good  thing because we can now keep track of both of our children, and they cannot run off. Thank you again with the Security System. We love the service that you provide, and the price is the best in the business. Keep up the great work!

Apple’s Tiger OS Lives Up to the Hype

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

Contrary to what Mac cynics might say, the upgrades in Mac OS X Version 10.4 (also known as tiger) Apple’s latest operating system are not just cosmetic. New features such as Tiger’s search tool are powerful enough to change the way Mac users work, and intriguing enough to possibly convert a few Windows users.

The $129 upgrade should work on any G3, or G5 Fire wire Mac. I installed a shipping version of the Os in about an hour each on an aging 867-MHz Power book and a newer 1.67-Ghz Power book, with no problem.

Tiger’s breakthrough feature is Spotlight; a desktop search tool that rummages through files, folders, e-mail Apple applications, and major third-party programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel (but no Entourage e-mail) It then displays results neatly by category. Spotlight can search by the usual criteria (file name, keywords) but also buy a dizzying variety of deeper “Metadata” such as author audio bit-rate, and photo a[perture. You can even save Spotlight searches as Smart Folders that continually update and add related files.

Tiger includes plenty of other useful additions. Dash board Widgets are attractive misapplications that aggregate information like stock prices and flight times. You also get Safari support for RSS (Really Simple Syndication) for reading blogs and news feeds, as well as parental controls for the Finder, mail IChat, and Safari.

Reports of networking bugs have surfaced, so if you use a cross-platform network or VPN, check for compatibility. You don’t need this upgrade. But spotlight is cool and useful enough to make Tiger well worth the purchase price.
